Aphids, thrips, whiteflies
2 kg of fresh plant material are mixed with 250 ml of water with the help of a grinder or similar device. This yields about
1 litre of plant liquid. Then 1 litre of cow's urine is added and 10 g of well-crushed dried chilli fruits. To this, 10 litres of water are stirred in. This solution is allowed to stand for some time. Then it is filtered and ready to spray. In bitter gourd cultivation, this extract is applied at the fruiting stage, when the incidence of Diaphania indica is critical. Application is repeated depending on the need.

Whole plant
Insecticidal
Holotrichia spp., cockchafer, greenfly
a) The plant material is mixed with the water at a rate of 1:4 and left to stand for 2–7 days. The strength of the extract depends on the severity of pest attack.
b) Loopings of Artemisia vulgaris placed along with mulch discourage the laying of cockchafer eggs.
Bitter tree
Celastus angulatus, Fam. Celastraceae

Seed oil , root bark
